About Me

What’s this Guy’s Deal Anyways?

Born in the land of sunshine and anthropomorphic mice, I spent my childhood trying to hide from my only natural predator, the sun. Growing up I was told that if I did what I loved, then I would never work a day in my life. So, I proceeded to go to the University of Central Florida and got a degree in Film with a minor in Philosophy. As you can tell that was a recipe for success in the late 2000’s.

Really I’m just a geek trying my best to figure it all out. Recent events have led me to take the leaps I’ve always wanted to (a lot of things seem possible when you’ve got nothing to lose). So, that’s why I’ve decided to switch gears and focus on living a life of creativity.

Over the past few years, I’ve written several short comics and managed to get a few actually published. I’ve always had a passion for storytelling, so it’s an industry I’m hoping to get into. Right now I’m publishing a webcomic on Tapastic called ‘Alive Again,’ about a teen who’s brought back to life as a zombie and forced to go to high school with other supernatural creatures. I’ve also had the fortune of having a few other artists approach me about collaborating with them, so I’ve got a quite a few irons in the fire when it comes to comics.

I’ve recently gone back to being a film critic and blogger too, by restarting my old site Stars & Popcorn. I did go to school for it after all, so writing about my obsession makes me feel like I’m actually using my degree. Plus, I’m really sick of critics these days, which is why I use a two-tier rating system to determine not just the film’s artistic merits but also just how much fun it is to watch. I update it every week with articles, new reviews, and top 10 lists, so be sure to check it out.

You can also find more of my work over at Con-Fu: Social Media, a site where I try to offer up not just helpful tips and tricks for creative types, but all that I’ve learned recently about successfully using social media and marketing. I love thinking outside the box and I’ve found that this is a practical way to push boundaries and be harness creativity for the power of good. Definitely check it out if you’re an artist, writer, cosplayer, or business owner looking to expand your online presence.

So, what’s the deal with this site? Well, along with my Film major, I also studied philosophy in college. I have a passion for the human condition, whether it’s new changes in society, how to live a better life or abstract concepts that affect us every day. So, this is my outlet to ramble about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness, along with a few geeky things from time to time. I’m not going to pretend I have all the answers, but I’m going to at least share insights I gain on the journey to find them.

Like I said, I’m a geek. I have a passion for film, tv, comics, video games, writing, drawing, martial arts, and comic conventions. I’m pretty much a stereotype, except for the whole giant ginger thing.

Seriously, I love having conversations. So make sure you comment or contact me about what you like, dislike, or want to see in the future. I’m going to be writing anyway, so I might as well give you want you want.
